HOLIDAY ISLAND & BEAVER LAKE FISHING REPORT, Aug 26th, 2010
Holiday Island waters pretty warm, look for fish in shade when suns up, they like it too. Bass are still hitting top early. Deep later in day. It's the best time for big bluegill in 5 to 15 ft of water all over. With just a little worm with or without floats, or small poppers. ( Great time to teach a kid to fish ) If you have night crawlers to spare, hook a whole one like a plastic worm, cast out with split shot, let it sink 14ft or bottom, work back slowly lifting rod up & down. Might get some bass or walleye in the mix. Most walleye are being caught trolling deep diving plugs & slow moving jigs tipped with a minnow or night crawler 14 to 18 ft. Crappie are deep 12-18 ft in standing timber & sunken brush, try minnows or jigs. Keep a small spoon tied on just in case the white bass school up on you, their feeding on small minnows in big schools that can bust the top all around you at any time.
Would like to put in a little word of caution here since we have more boats on the water. A lot more kayaks & canoes. From buoys at marina all the way up Leatherwood Creek is no wake. Also when coming in to buoys on the point, be nice & slow down early. A lot of small craft & swimmers are in this area. Had a friend almost loose his camera here last week in a kayak. Will be a lot of people in this spot for the 4th. Also if you go up river, the boats get smaller, be nice to them too so we can all have fun on the water.

BEAVER LAKE STRIPERS ARE ON OUR END OF BEAVER LAKE.
5-12 inch gizzard shad or shiners kept cool and droped down fast 28-40ft are catching most fish from the Dam to Rocky Branch. Some fish will still come to the top & hit a top water bait early, but their holding deep in the cooler water. Jigs & spoons can also work or trolling unbrella rigs, deep diving baits, or a bomber long A on downriggers should find you some of these big fish.
All my trips on Beaver Lake are now going out with your choice of a 4 or 5 am from Beaver Dam Launch & Dock pick ups from resorts & marinas on Beaver.
